Poverty in simple terms is the lack of possessions or the lack of economic needs by individuals of certain social groups which makes their lives nothing less than a curse.
Almost, 800 people in India fall in the criteria of being poor. Approximately, 70 per cent of the Indian population earn less than $2 per day and among those 30 per cent earn less than $1.25 per day which is a haunting and saddening fact. The cause of instability and misery in India lies the fact of disparity between the rich and poor. The rift between the two is ever increasing. People in India have no choice but to live in slums, streets and footpaths and they become ghettoised which is hazardous for all of us. The cost of the lives of the poor has become nothing but a cypher.
