Another possible solution is to conserve water by collecting rainwater on the roofs of new houses and buildings. For instance, India’s government supports this idea and has created special compulsories to create rainwater tanks in cities that will save the amount of groundwater. Unfortunately, such a method is active only in ten states of India and in future it is considered to be implemented in other states (Rogers Peter, 2009). “India has sixteen per cent of the world’s population and four per cent of its fresh water resources (Indira Khurana and Romit Sen, n.d.).” As the consumption of water per capita is growing each year, the limitation of the birth rate could reduce people’s demand for water. This method is taking place in China, and because of this policy, the population of China remains constant, otherwise people merely could not find water, even for domestic purposes (Grail Research, LLC, 2009). In conclusion, these methods are the most appropriate solutions to solve water shortage in India. However, all these manners cannot be provided right away, since a large amount of money is needed to employ them.
