Article 24 of the Constitution of India, 1950 says, “No child below the age of fourteen years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or employed in any hazardous employment”. Indian legislature has also enacted the Factories Act, 1948, The Children Act, 1960, The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 etc. for the protection of rights of children. Article 45 of the Constitution of India, 1950 casts a duty on the State to endeavor to provide free and compulsory education to the children. Article 25(2) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights also states about the special care and assistance for the motherhood and children.

There may no other opinion that child labor should be restricted and if possible completely vanished. It is a socio-economic national problem, which requires close analysis and practical solutions to meet with this burning question.

Child labour is becoming a big social issue in India which should be resolved on a regular basis. This is not only the responsibility of the government, but it should also be reconciled by all social organizations, bosses, and guardians. This issue is for everyone who needs to be sorted out personally, because it can be with any child of anybody.

Child labour is very common in many developing countries due to severe poverty and poor schooling. High rate of child labor is still more than 50 percent, in which children from 5 to 14 years of age are working in developing countries. The rate of child labor is highest in the agricultural sector, which is mostly seen in rural and irregular urban economies, where most of the children have been professionally engaged in agricultural work by their parents instead of playing with their friends and sending the school.

The issue of child labour has become international now, because it has become a major obstacle in the growth and development of the country. Healthy children have bright future and power for any country, so child labour is harming, destroying and destroying the future of the country.
