I have been crusading through Diwali cleaning and decluttering like a Ninja. But trying to manage a toddler, a fledgling business, a blog and preparing for Diwali can be a bit overwhelming.

I have been crusading through Diwali cleaning and decluttering like a Ninja. But trying to manage a toddler, a fledgling business, a blog and preparing for Diwali can be a bit overwhelming. On a whim I decided to ask my readers about which part of their house they start decluttering during Diwali. While a lot of people were like me and started their decluttering with Kitchen, others named their closets, puja room, book shelves etc for starting their mission declutter.

Explanation:

Every Diwali, Hindus welcome the New Year with Diyas, rangolis, flowers and fireworks .They visit their friends and relatives wishing them happiness and prosperity through out the year and exchange gifts. There is a holiday festivity and celebration in the air. Every home, even those with limited resources, celebrates this festival- after all this time comes only once a year. Year after year, Diwali comes with a frenzy of activities be it at home or office. For every housewife, it is a time to clean up the home, throw away redundant items, buy new things, make tasty savories and sweets to welcome the New Year. It is one time of the year, when every harried housewife is busy, overworked and stressed yet she does it willingly, happily and wants her home to be spruced up and looking beautiful. It is the same in offices where there is puja, disposing of the accumulated junk, buying new account books, cleaning up and distributing bonuses and sweets. All these activities happen as we want to welcome the New Year and Goddess Laxmi into our clean, lighted, fresh home with a sweetness of goodwill and brotherhood. Yet, have we ever reflected about the God consciousness residing within us all at such times. Doesn’t this Energy also need a befitting space to reside where no negativities, vices and lack of love are? Shouldn’t we also do a spring cleaning and self introspection within every year and start afresh clean and clear? Along with the outer physical cleanliness and openness, shouldn’t we also strive to de-clutter our mind getting rid of all that junk of thoughts that have filled the space with negativities? It would be ideal to do this self introspection daily just as one need to keep our environment clean regularly. But when it is not done, let Diwali become a time to rectify our omission of work to be done and use it as an excuse to clear the mind of regrets, hurts, ill will, jealousy, bitterness, hate, avarice and all the negativities within that pull us down. Here are some useful tips that can help us on the way:

Let us all light a lamp of Love, Positivity and Awareness that will lead us to our Salvation and clean up our thoughts with a resolution to be a better human being for the world and fulfill the purpose of our life.
