Lack of education results in ignorance and ignorance finally leads to superstition. In villages we notice superstitions at every step. The villagers are so ignorant that they often oppose programmes that are meant to help them. They suffer from numerous superstitious beliefs and never try to come out of them. They believe that diseases are the curse of gods and goddesses. Thus instead of qualified doctors they go to quacks and witch doctors. Sometimes, they go to the ojhas to find the remedy.
Out of their ignorance, the villagers never feel the importance of family planning. They do not realise that it is better to have few children in order to lead a more comfortable and tension free life. They regard child birth as the gift of god and thus think that they have no right to bring check on it. As a result, they have four, five, six children. But they are never teaned about their brought up.
They do not bother that they should give their children better food and education. They do not even make use of medical facilities available at Primary Health centres. It is true that medical facilities available at village level are not adequate. However, even those that exist are not properly utilized. The reason behind it is lack of knowledge.
Lack of education also results in the spread of diseases. Usages are not aware of the fact that drinking water can be purified with chlorine and potassium permagarnate. They are so not aware that clean personal habits, clean surroundings and purified water are all essential for good health.
Many farmers do not know that modern scientific methods of agriculture can be utilised to increase production of crops. They have no knowledge of different fertilizers, better irrigation facilities and scientific rotation of crops. Instead of driving around in huge tractors, Indian farmers still rely on the age- old bullocks and oxen to plough their fields. During harvest, what can be done through machines is compromised with numerous hands from the family.
Accompanied by lack of knowledge in investment and prudence, many farmers are left with traditions of the past, while facing problems of the present and most probably the future. Hence, it is very important that our farmers learn about these things.
Thus ignorance and superstition are the curse for human beings. They are great hindrances on the path of progress. For a country like India which is beset with so many problems, it is important to make the people, especially our villagers and farmers aware of what is going on around them. To achieve the optimum goal, spread of education is must. Without it people are cut off from useful information.
Only education can remove the ignorance and superstition. After all education does not hurt but ignorance does." Hence, our villagers and farmers and all those who are deprived of education, must be educated. Only then our country will run fast on the path of progress.

Ignorance is one of the flaws which hinders the path of progress of any human being. It becomes a curse to humanity when it starts to make its space in the minds of the people. To ignore means to postpone the work which we require to do to do it later. Hence, in this way, the work is left undone. Works left become a flaw of humanity and it hampers the pace of the life of the people.
