The programme has undergone many changes since its launch in 1995. The Midday Meal Scheme is covered by the National Food Security Act, 2013.

Mild Day Meal ~

mid -day meals are cooked food provided to the students of primary schools everyday. the introduction of mid-day meals is an important step to the success of the programme 'Sarba Sikhsha Abhijan' or 'Education For alll'.the drive is meant for removing the curse of illiteracy,it is a patent fact that every year a large number of drop-out cases in schools. This is mainly due to the abject poverty of the learnes who in their very early years turn child leaboures. Besides,most of the children suffer malnutrition. Now mildday meal scheme is expected to arrest the number of drop-out cases and provide the underprivileged students with nutritions food. the succesful implementation of the programme rests on the honest and co-ordinate efforts of all involed in it.
