Solar Power: The Weapon Against Pollution
In the pursuit of progress and development, man has damaged the environment terribly. The aftermath and fallout of the excessive use of fossil fuels has adversely affected man. As a consequence, the present condition of our environment is like a patient lying in critical condition in the ICU. The amount of greenhouse gases has increased so much that the balloon of our environment has been heating up threateningly. Mass deforestation in the name of urbanization and industrialization have further worsened the situation.
Renewable energy sources are the best bet in the scenario. And what can be a better renewable resource than the sun? In a country like India, if the abundant amount of sunlight available is harnessed properly it will be infinitely advantageous to the nation in many ways. It is the most abundant source of energy. India is in the sunny belt of the world. The country receives solar energy equivalent to more than 5000 trillion KWH per year, which is far more than its total annual energy consumption. Besides, no other energy source is as renewable and clean as the solar energy is. Taking both environmental and economic cost, solar energy works cheaper than fossil fuel resources. Tapping and using this abundant solar energy will not only solve the country’s energy demand, but also bring down dangerous levels of air pollution in the country.
It is high time we started using solar-powered vehicles to solar-generated power to do our day to day work. The Government must act proactively in this regard. It must provide the solar power generation infrastructure and electric vehicles to people. Otherwise, the delicate balloon of our environment will blow up leading to the collapse of the entire life system on our planet.
