Walking is the easiest and most beneficial physical exercise one can do. It has so many benefits attached to it that once you know them you will be amazed. Paula Cole beautifully describes, “Walking is magic. Can't recommend it highly enough. I read that Plato and Aristotle did much of their brilliant thinking together while ambulating. The movement, the meditation, the health of the blood pumping, and the rhythm of footsteps... this is a primal way to connect with one's deeper self.” Early morning walks or late evening walks do the body and mind a heaven of good! Research has confirmed walking is the best tool to maintain weight, prevent heart diseases, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. It is very good for the health of bones and muscles.

Apart from physical benefits, walk is extremely beneficial for mind also. During walking one’s mood is uplifted; walking gives rise to highly creative thoughts. All the great poets such as Wordsworth, Tennyson, Whitman, Robert Frost, etc. conceived their best of poems during walks. Walking fills one’s mind with serenity and optimism. So one must adopt this wonderful habit and enjoy the benefits associated with it.
