Cities has maximum number of vehicles in the country. The emissions from these vehicles adds tons of poisonous gases in the air, which people of cities have to inhale. Metro runs on electricity causing no emissions of toxic gases and pollutants. Approximately 27 lakh commuters travel by metro in Delhi; one can imagine what would have happened to Delhi’s air if all these commuters would have used their personal vehicles.
