In times today there is increased competition which makes keeping jobs quite difficult. In such a situation rising prices in the economy cause inflation which puts further stress on people. It is highly difficult for people to keep up with the rising prices because their disposal income gets decreased when income is constant. Wants are a different case, people are not even able to keep up with their needs let alone savings. The government faces difficulties in coming up with unemployment benefits, consumers have problem in getting their basic needs and wants. The lower or underpriviledged class suffers the most because they feel suppressed under this burden. It is much better that direct taxes rise rather than indirect taxes because that causes the income gap and poverty gap between the rich and poor to further widen.
