Drug is a depressant that slows down the functions of the central nervous system. The worst form of abuse for the human body comes from drugs. They destroy a person from inside outwards. It starts affecting the organs eventually reaching the brain and can even become fatal when taken in a large quantity or for a long time. Drugs are usually taken because they seem to be a temporary solution of a problem or they provide solace by calming the senses, but that also shows how detrimental they can prove to be to one’s health. Say No to Drugs
The drug market has been a popular topic since the day I was born. Yes, it was a long time ago, but it was around. The people mostly was used to smoking marijuana or getting high off of heroin. We didn’t have as many drugs as we see, today. I wonder why? I noticed there are many new laws being created to either legalized or cracked down on certain drugs. At first, I thought drugs were just a part of the 20th century. To my surprise, it was popular in the late 18th and early 19th century. People were using cocaine and heroin to treat certain illnesses. Soon the FDA (Food and Drug Association) began to question the experiments of the drugs being used for treatment. The remedies continue to be used in the 20th century. This is where the people decided they could cure themselves with different remedies. From the 1960s- present, the United States Presidents have been fighting the war even harder since the epidemic of drug use and sales have increased. As the drug epidemic began to spread, law enforcement agencies have been going through the motions of trying to decrease and put an end to illegal drugs on the streets. In this paper, I plan going to give the history of “War on Drugs,” how effective the law enforcement agencies are in trying to put an end to the “War on Drugs,” and my opinions on “War on Drugs.”
It has been found that drug addicts are initiated on this path by their friends or company. Such a phenomenon occurs at school, college or university or at disco, or at a trip of excursion or at some social gatherings.
The major factors leading to drug addiction are lack of parental cure and supervision, lack of moral and religious education, media and pop culture, hatred for any authority, broken homes etc…..
To check this alarming increase in the number of people taking drugs, the government has outlawed its abuse with hard penalties. A relentless campaign against drug addiction will yeild the desired results. The campaign against drug may start with schools, advertisements, warnings by doctors, and so on. The young ones shoud be ensured of proper love and care. In the long run however, only a spiritually oriented education system could prove to be a success on getting rid of this bad habit.
