The Indian Surgical Strike was an alleged military mission as conducted by the Indian Armed Forces inside Pakistan's Azad Jammu and Kashmir District.
The mission was much published in Indian media for both it's positives and negatives.
When the news broke out of a surgical strike, something that the Indian Government had planned since decades, there was general euphoria among the masses.
People were celebrating it as a victory and congratulating each other on the streets. However, there was a swift backlash, not only from the Pakistani government but many within the Indian establishment.
Pakistani Army immediately released a report claiming that such a strike did not take place and there was no evidence. The Pakistani government openly asked for any evidence to prove that such an action took place.
Opponents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sought out more explanations and details on the mission and if there was any record of it taking place.
This immediately put the Indian Army and the Modi government on a back foot as not a single evidence was ever produced of the surgical strike taking place.
Many commentators also noticed that if a surgical strike did take place, the scope and scale of it was so limited that it would have no positive results, not even in the short-run.
2 years since the Indian Government took credit for the surgical strike, they have not been able to replicate such a mission again.
