• They cut trees & build roads.

Results of deforestation :-

Ruskin Bond, a very popular author rightly said, ''Blessed is he upon whose house walls, the shade of an old tree falls.'' Trees are green gold. Trees give us life-saving oxygen which is very essential for our survival. They provide us shade and shelter. Trees are the ornaments that our Mother Earth wears. They hold the soil firmly and prevent soil erosion. Trees play a vital role in our life. They provide us wood for furniture, medicines, fruits, vegetables, etc. Trees enhance the scenic beauty of Earth. They also prevent blistering hot sunshine.  

But these days, instead of planting trees, man is adopting the ways of deforestation. Deforestation is a hazardous practice of removal of trees and clearing forests for spreading industrialization and urbanization. Major causes of deforestation are man's greed to acquire land, construct houses, set up industries and earn money by selling timber. Also, forest fires are one of the natural causes. Deforestation can lead to various issues like: natural calamities, soil erosion, land degradation, etc. It can cause droughts and floods in remote areas. Trees purify air by giving out oxygen and taking in carbon dioxide. Lack of trees leads to more and more pollution as absorption of carbon dioxide as well as noise won't take place. Quality of water can too get affected. Trees are our lifeline. Without them, one can't survive.

So, one should stop deforestation and adopt the policy of afforestation. One should take active participation in various occasions and festivals that are celebrated all over the world in order to protect trees. Hence, one's motto should be, ''Let's paint the Earth green.''
