Sir,

Kindly let me express my views on the above subject through the columns of your popular newspaper. Firstly, by cutting down trees we reduce the supply of oxygen- the very breath of life. Secondly, the entire balance of the ecosystem is disturbed if trees are cut down. Many species have become extinct. The food chain begins to manifest gaps. This will ultimately prove dangerous to man. The soil also gats affected. It loses its fertility and firmness So, all these reasons, we need to put a stop to this thoughtless deforestation. Government laws regarding cutting down of trees should be very strict. People should be made aware of the importance of trees through the media. Tree plantation programs should be taken up on a war-footing. Then only will we be able to save our planet.
