SHGs are the building blocks of organisation of rural poors. A typical SHG has 15-20 members,usually belonging to one neighborhood,who meet and save regularly. Most of important decisions regarding the savings and loan activities are taken by the group members. The SHG help the borrowers to overcome the problems of lack of collateral. They can get timely loans for a variety of purpose at a reasonable interest rate. so the basic idea is to organise rural poor,in particular women, in to small self help groups and pool their savings.
