● DECOMPOSITION REACTION : The reaction in which single substance decomposes to give two or more substances is called Decomposition Reaction.

● Decomposition Reaction can be of three types;

◆ Thermal Decomposition
◆ Electrolytic Decomposition
◆ Sunlight Decomposition

● THERMAL DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by heating is called thermal decomposition.

Example - 2FeSO4 --- Fe2O3 + SO2 + SO3

● ELECTROLYTIC DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by electricity is called electrolytic decomposition.

Example - 2H2 + O2 --- H2O

● SUNLIGHT DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by sunlight is called sunlight decomposition.

Example - 2AgCl --- 2Ag + Cl2
