ANSWER:

● DECOMPOSITION REACTION: The reaction in which one single substance decomposes to give two or more substances is called Decomposition Reaction.

● Decomposition Reaction can be of three types:-

◆Thermal Decomposition
◆ Electrolytic Decomposition
◆ Sunlight Decomposition

● THERMAL DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by heating is called thermal decomposition.

EXAMPLE - 2FeSO4 --heat-- Fe2O3 + SO2 + SO3

● ELECTROLYTIC DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by electricity is called electrolytic decomposition.

EXAMPLE - 2H2 + O2 --electricity-- 2H2O

● SUNLIGHT DECOMPOSITION: When the decomposition carried by sunlight is called sunlight decomposition.

EXAMPLE - 2AgCl --sunlight-- 2Ag + Cl2
