Answer:

My favorite holiday is Diwali or Deepavali. It is also called “The Festival of Lights.” It is celebrated in October or November by Hindus in India and the Indian Diaspora. It originated more than 2,500 years ago.

Multiple stories are linked to this celebration. One story from northern India tells the story about the great King Rama, one of the avatars of the Hindu god Vishnu. According to the Ramayana, an ancient epic, Rama returned to his kingdom after fourteen years of exile, and defeating the evil demon Ravana, who kidnapped his wife, Sita. On his arrival to Ayodhya, his kingdom, people welcomed him by lighting lamps called diyas. A popular story from southern India is about the Hindu god Krishna, saving sixteen-thousand women from Narakasura, an evil king. In both stories, it is a victory of good over evil. Diwali is also a celebration of goddess Lakshmi.

On the day of Diwali, I like to visit temple, where I pray to Mother Lakshmi. We worship Goddess Lakshmi for peace, prosperity, and wealth. I also wear new Indian clothes, such as a kurta for men and a sari for women.

We light our homes with diyas, an oil lamp made from clay. We light them by using a cotton wick dipped in ghee or oil. This is one of the reasons that Diwali is called as “The Festival of Lights.” This signifies the victory of good over evil and the dispelling of darkness. We also share sweets with our friends and family.

There are many delicious milk sweets, cashew sweets, and almond sweets my family prepares, but out of all of these delectable desserts, my favorite is Gulab Jamun. It is a milk sweet soaked in a sugar syrup.

The most enjoyable part of Diwali for me and my most favorite part of diwali, is lighting sparklers with my family. The magnanimous light of the sparklers and saying “Happy Diwali” to my family helps me find the true spirit of Diwali, which is togetherness. This reminds me of the Fourth of July, because both of them have grand celebrations.

There are so many celebrations around the world like Halloween and Thanksgiving, but my favorite is Diwali. Diwali gives us hope for new beginnings. Diwali brings all of us together in the spirit of celebration, joy, and happiness.

Diwali is an Indian Hindu festival celebrated every year in the month of October or November. According to Hindu calendar, the festival falls on the new moon day in the month of Kartika. It is an auspicious festival celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. It is the festival of lights. The celebration starts few days ahead of the Diwali day with crackers and sweets. You can see lights everywhere in every house. Diyas and crackers are kept in every home and everyone from children to elders enjoy the festival. Diwali marks the death of evil man Ravana, killed by Lord Rama. It is considered as the day when good succeeded the evil.

I love Diwali festival because the day is filled with lights and I love burning crackers and lighting diyas. We wear new clothes early morning after taking oil bath. The day has so many sweets and delicacies prepared at home. All the shops and markets are decorated with lights. Everyone light candles, lamps, and divas in their homes. People worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi on this day praying for good wealth, prosperity and fortune. Diwali is not a single day celebration. Preparations for the festival starts a month ago itself. We clean our houses to let goddess Lakshmi visit our house to provide good fortune and wealth. We also prepare sweets, light diyas, and burn crackers. Everyone loves celebrating Diwali because it brings happiness to the hearts and makes relationships grow closer.

2) Importance of water

Water is very important to the human body. Every one of your cells, organs and tissues use water to help with temperature regulation, keeping hydrated and maintaining bodily functions. In addition, water acts as a lubricant and cushions your joints. Drinking water is great for your overall health. According to the CDC everyone should drink water daily.

Water and Your Heart Health: Drinking water is very good for your heart. Your heart is working continually to pump 2,000 gallons of blood throughout your body a day. By drinking water and keeping hydrated, you are helping your heart do its job. Your heart Is able to pump blood more easily when hydrated (consuming more water than you are losing) and allows the rest of the muscles in your body to work much better.

Water and Weight Loss: Water naturally has zero calories, therefore, substituting water for soda or juice can reduce your caloric intake. Switching out one 20 oz. sugary beverage for water reduces your caloric intake by 240 calories.

There are no recommended standards for how much plain water one should drink daily because intake varies based on age, sex, weight, and many other factors. It is recommended for an adult male over the age of 19 to consume 3.7 liters of water per day. An adult non-lactating female over the age of 19 is recommended to consume 2.7 liters of water per day. Females that are pregnant or lactating are recommended to consume 3-3.8 liters of water per day. These values include the water you get from food and other (non-water) beverages throughout your day.

Hydration: Drinking water keeps you from becoming dehydrated; a condition that can cause confusion, mood change, overheating, constipation, and other symptoms. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommends, to decrease your risk of becoming dehydrated, that you have a drink with every meal, and drink whenever you are thirsty. An easy way to determine if you have had enough water is to check your urine. If it’s a darker yellow, you need more water. If it’s a pale yellow or clear you’re doing great.
