In this super-connected world, mobile phone serves an important role in the field of communication. Today, everyone has their own cell phone including young children. Even though these gadgets have both positive and negative effects, I am of the view that mobile phones have an adverse impact on youngsters.

Firstly, cell phones have many advantages. Other than talking or texting, it provides many applications such as access to the internet, camera, songs, calculator, torch light, and so on. Out of which children can make use of the internet as well as scientific calculator application as a means of their studies. For instance, many English learning students use mobile phone GPRS facility to log on to essay forum in order to improve their writing skills .So mobile phone helps children in many ways because of its convenience.

On the contrary, cell phone has become a major threat in children's life. These gadgets diminish the academic interest in students. In addition, the potential of the loss of moral values in youngsters due to the exposure of unhealthy stuffs on the internet is a matter of concern. For example, obscene contents on the internet have a negative effect on young children, and now mobile phones serve as a great reservoir of such contents. More over gaming, chatting and so on are of having their own ill effects on young kids.

In my opinion, the cons of mobile phones are very large in number compared to pros in children. So it is high time for us to control the affinity of young children towards these gadgets in order to mould up a better generation in near future.

There is tremendous benefits of the cell phones such as the ease of communication, the anywhere, anytime contact. However, like every technological advance, it has also consequential costs. Now, almost 90 percent children have a smartphone, which are psychologically addictive, provided we get control of the screens which now absorb so much of our kids’ time and will have harmful effects on the kids. Some children are so obsessed that they are unable to stay without it. They constantly check for messages and become irritable if they have to be away from their phone for any period of time.

Today’s children are growing up in a radio-frequency environment that never existed in human history before. They play games, chat and talk to their friends on their mobile phone all the time. The effect of the smartphone on children’s academic can be very noticeable. Children reduce the time spent on homework. Exam results get suffer due to poor preparation or fatigue from using their smartphones well into the night. Use of cell phones can lead children to engage in inappropriate behaviors. They can easily check sites that show harmful and shocking content. Texting and sending inappropriate pictures has also become common among teens. As mobile phones are keeping the brain continuously busy without any rest, kids tend to be more annoying and they tend to become more violent and irritated even at the normal discussions. This, in turn, hampers their social life. Mobile phones can provide children a sense of safety, support and control over their lives. However, there is need of parental control mechanism, so that  parents can schedule app and device usage, and children can focus while they are at school/studying/playing and they get to experience the best of both worlds.
