Peace and harmony are the basic necessities of any country. A nation gets peace and harmony only if it can prosper. In our Constitution, there is a provision of law to ensure the political and social equality between the citizens so that they can maintain a goodwill among their citizens by avoiding conflict.

Although people of our country live peacefully with each other, due to some political, social, economic and religious factors, peace has always been disturbed. Price rise and unemployment also create unrest among people. Often people come to the streets to protest against these issues, which in turn cause normal work of society to be interrupted.

Terrorism is another factor which hinders people's peaceful life. In the last several years, many terrorist attacks have been carried out on our country, due to which many people have lost their lives. The major attacks in these terrorist attacks include Brahmaputra Mail Train Bombing, 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast in 1998, Mumbai bomb blast in 2003, 2006 Varanasi explosion, 2013 Bangalore blasts and 2015 Gurdaspur assault etc.

Communal riots like Moradabad of 1980, 1984 anti-Sikh riots, 1985 Gujarat and 2013 Muzaffarnagar have destroyed human life on a large scale.

In addition to the government of the country, citizens of the country should also work together to maintain peace and harmony.
