Mobile phones have brought about a major transformation in our lives. It has helped to boost technology and other aspects associated with it. Many sectors of our economy are dependent on technology and thereby its contributions are huge. However, we cannot disregard the several disadvantages that it poses.

Firstly, it has affected the lives of students like us in a major way. Spending too much time on mobile phones leads to hampering of studies, lack of concentration, and also quite distracting. Excess usage is also associated with several health problems( hinders sleep, affects the eyes and much more) and leads to accidents.

Mobile phones are also socially disruptive and we tend to drift away from people. Communication becomes easier, but misinterpretations are common. There's another negative side to it, i.e.cyber crimes. We get involved in cyber crimes either as victims or as assailants.Although mobile phones aid our work,we should limit our usage considering the huge list of negatives.

Disadvantages of spending too much time on your mobile phone

Mobiles have become a source of major distractions for the students. Young boys and girls seem to have become inordinately addicted to these sites. They are thoughtlessly and uselessly wasting their precious time on these useless sites.

The overuse of mobile has posed serious health issues. Radiation caused by microwaves emitting from network towers as well as mobile phones, eyesight getting affected due to exposure to mobile screen for hours, etc. are some of the health issues. Besides, mobile phones are also responsible for difficulty in concentration, fatigue, headaches and sleep disturbance that can further trigger health complications. Owing to late night use of mobile phones, the youngsters skimp on sleep which further causes health consequences. This has made them aggressive and irritated.

The other major disadvantage of the increasing use of such networking sites is the spread of obscenity. This is having a very negative impact on the impressionable minds of our young children and leading them astray. The parents, teachers and the government must look into the problems being caused by mobiles and these networking sites and must formulate a strategy either to curb or completely stop its fast growing negative influence on the minds of our youth. Our youth is the future of our nation. We cannot allow this youth to waste their precious time on mobiles doing the Facebook, YouTube, Whatsapp, or any other app or site. The same time must be spent on studying, researching and developing leadership or other life-skills. It is our moral duty as well as responsibility to lead our youth on the right path and teach them to make best use of these wonderfully gadgets to improve themselves only.

Answer:

Disadvantages of using too much mobile phone are:

1. You Catch Yourself “Phubbing” Your Family, Friends, and Partner

Say you walk into a busy restaurant. You’re seated next to a party of four friends. Noticing them throughout your meal, you see that they’ve spent the whole night hunched over their smartphones. They’re together but apart.

This phenomenon is so common now that it even has its own buzzword: “phubbing.” It’s probably happened to you. Maybe you’ve been the culprit without even realizing it.

Whipping your phone out for a second during a friend’s story might not seem like a big deal, but the consequences are profound. You’re signaling that their real-life presence is less important than the shiny distractions on your device. Your friends feel neglected, and that you don’t value their company.

Phubbing affects friends, family, and relationships of all sorts. It’s especially tough on romantic partners. One study found that phubbing decreased marital satisfaction while increasing the likelihood of depression.

Left unchecked, phubbing also creates vicious cycles. If you neglect your friends, they might pull out their phones in response to soothe the social rejection.

2. You Constantly Compare Yourself to Others

Are you constantly jealous of your Instagram friends’ extravagant trips, salary, or love lives? Are the things that used to make you happy just not doing it anymore?

A little envy is natural, but when your life gets overwhelmed by comparisons, it could be a warning that you’re spending too much time on your phone.

This is especially true if you’re a frequent social media user. Those platforms encourage users to post the most exciting, jealousy-inducing content because that’s what gets all the retweets and likes. It’s easy to forget that the rest of your virtual friends’ lives – the stuff they don’t post – is probably just as mundane as the stuff you’re complaining about.

Constantly comparing yourself to friends (or even worse, celebrities) creates a standard to which you can’t possibly meet. You weigh real life against their filtered versions of reality – and end up dissatisfied.
