Being Human in the age of Intelligence

It might seem unbelievable but over the few decades, technology growth has been on an exponential rate. AI or artificial intelligence which seemed like a concept or a theory a few years ago, now is everywhere. It plays a part in every aspect of our life directly or indirectly. Fields like health, welfare , industries and smart tech has a great use of AI.

One of the much better known AI is in our smartphones. AIs like google assistant, Alexa and SIRI are the well known ones which help in daily routine work like saving a contact , calling someone or setting a reminder etc through our smartphones.

The thing about AI is , it is a relatively new field which has been derived from machine learning and some other aspects of computer science. In the words of the famous scientist Stephen hawking , it might be the biggest event for mankind which can be both good or bad.

Some of the negative aspects can be Bias arisen from improper training like the Microsoft twitter chat-bot who became racist.Majorly , it can result in loss of jobs in certain fields that for humans that can be replaced by a much efficient and economical AI. There can be a shift in the day-to-day routine of a human being arisen from freedom from certain tasks, we would need to spend our mental and physical energy somewhere else or we might get sick.It can also result in hacking of systems and data leaks on a huge scale.

Though these are some issues we might face due to AI , it cannot be denied that introduction of AI has many benefits towards the society which are much needed for our progress as a being.

Being Human in the age of Artificial Intelligence

As MIT Physics Professor Max Tegmar says, “Intelligence is the crux of the problem.” Our intelligence is the reason, we have more power than any other animal on the planet. There is no doubt that artificial intelligence will bring astoundingly positive things with it. But at the same time there are always two sides of a coin. Having said that, one cannot argue over the fact that there are certain events in which utilisation of a robot can actually turn out to be much more efficient when compared to a human being. However, it is imperative to state that it is the human finesse that controls, operates, and direct the use of such a technology. In every kind of industry that makes an extensive use of artificial intelligence, human input, human interaction, and human judgment can still not be replaced by the capabilities of an artificially intelligent machine. Also, Robots like Sophia, though has capabilities much more than a human being but surely it lacks emotions. It is the high emotional quotient that human beings have saved the earth from turning into a battle of beast. Compassion, love, sympathy, kindness all are characteristics of a human being not any humanoid robot. Thus, even though robots are future of the world but future of mankind is nonetheless are humans.
