Answer:

I was jobless for 9 months after passing engineering which was one of the toughest times I have faced. I did not get into any company during my campus selection(which was in the 6th Semester at my college) because my overall engineering percentage was slightly less than 60% at that time of the placements and the minimum cutoff of all the companies were above 60%. My family and relatives were pestering me to get a job asap after engineering. During this period was my brother’s marriage, and all the relatives were asking me about the reason of my joblessness and compared with their son or daughter who had a job in Infosys/Wipro/TCS etc. They suggested I should do nursing or join call centers since IT is something above my reach or capability. Due to this I was totally frustrated and depressed. I couldn’t prepare well for the interview and as a result got rejected in so many interviews off- campus. I used to go to interviews everyday and get back home depressed even more after knowing that they rejected me. I always felt irritated when my friends posted their pics about their promotions or awards in facebook.

This continued for about 6 months, that is when I decided it was enough and I needed a break from all these. I convinced my dad to book me a ticket to Dubai for a short vacation(5 days). This made a turning point for me. I made a point that I will forget all what happened and enjoy the trip as much as I can. I did exactly that. I roamed all around Dubai, did shopping, interacted with several people etc which gave me wonderful experiences. Once I returned to India, I found that I was in a different mood altogether. I could now concentrate on learning new technologies and do a project, which gave a good exposure on the subject. Soon, I started giving interviews again, even though I was getting rejected again, I started ignoring it and tried to learn from the mistakes I made in the interview. Finally after 9 months from passing engineering, I got selected in an MNC. The salary i got here was almost twice the salary my relative’s son/daughter got in Infosys/Wipro/Tcs etc. I worked there for 4 years (1 year onsite USA), received several awards and 2 promotions. My relatives now have good opinion about me and asks me to guide their kids. I have now quit the company and started a new company which is worth 50 crores now.

Sometimes it just takes a small decision from your side that can change the entire road from failure to success. In my case, it was the trip that changed my mind and my urge to restart from scratch that came in favor of me. Its not the past that matters, its how you handle the future what matters. Good Luck
