Before starting! We need to understand, "What Artificial Intelligence (AI) is?" - In simplest terms, AI is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think, learn and act like humans. Sometimes it is basic and other times it can be more specific set of actions or commands.

AI or “Thinking Machines” has been of interest to scientists since the early 20th century, when the first generation of computers was designed. Professor John McCarthy, teaching Mathematics at the Dartmouth College in 1955 coined the term Artificial Intelligence. Imitating nature is one of the strategies used by man for solving problems. Nothing can beat the human brain when it comes to problem-solving.

Currently AI has already taken its place in most of the industries, majorly automobiles, machinery, processes in factories, boilers, and heat treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering, and stabilization of ships, aircraft and other applications and vehicles with minimal or reduced human intervention, with some processes have been completely automated. As far as the mobile industry is concerned we understand that the AI in the form of Siri, Google assistant have become an indispensable part of our lives. They have helped us to get easy access to our application without actually giving manual commands over the phone. But while doing this we give AI access to the most sensitive information such as contacts, pictures, texting apps etc. which may turn out troublesome if someone get hold of that data.

About half of smartphones sold globally this year will have an AI-powered assistant, a report by an industry consulting firm showed 29 July. According to Strategy Analytics (SA) Inc., 47.7 percent of smartphones sold on the global market will be equipped with some kind of on-device AI assistant, up from 36.6 percent last year, Yonhap news agency reported.

Bane: AI causes more problems than it solves:

AI is necessarily dehumanizing: In many dystopian scenarios, AI can be misused by some to control others, whether by surveillance, robotic policing, automated “justice”, or an AI-supported command-and-control economy. These can certainly be possible in future, but not vast majority of people would support it.

AI will necessarily increase inequality: As it happened in case of industrial revolution, it is certainly possible that increased AI-based automation of work will concentrate income and wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people. We do, however, have a choice about how AI is used.

AI will reduce jobs available for humans: We humans are lazy people, we want our work to be reduced to minimum. So when AI technology is making our job so easy, to get connected, talk setting up reminders or etc. we will trade human labour with machine as machine dont get tired and deliver desired results always.

Boon: AI is the need of the hour:

More learning: AI offers greater access for humans to human knowledge and individual learning; the elimination of language barriers between peoples; and the elimination of meaningless and repetitive drudgery that reduces people to the status of, well, robots.

Making our life easier: Artificial intelligence has made our life easier by reducing the manual labour induced in that job. Whether is calculating, ticket booking, and searching stuff online.

User friendly: It uses basic directions to do complex task, and helps even differently abled to use it. Even if someone not used to typing he may use the AI to make the work done, until he learns to use to a smartphone.

Will require less labour force: AI will able to perform tasks requiring minimal logic in much faster and economical manner.

Conclusion: There’s little doubt that AI has the potential to greatly improve our lives. AI will make the roads safer, help in medicine, aide the disabled and the elderly, work customer service and a number of countless other jobs. However, AI also poses an incredible threat, and this isn’t the stuff of science fiction, either. Top scientists and technologists like Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates and Elon Musk believe that AI is a very real, and dangerous threat to humankind.
