Whether you are a school going kid or a student pursuing his master’s both of you are thinking when will you be back to your normal routine. If you have to take my suggestion or comments in this regard I would say that I don’t think even in the coming two-three months you will be able to meet your desire.
The effect of this lockdown is worst for the mental health and happiness of a student, he/she is unable to meet his/her friends and enjoy what they used to do in pre-COVID days. The enormous potential that they used in their daily life is now blocked, we are continuing the study with the help of different digital learning platform but are we actually satisfying their needs.
Are they satisfied with our efforts that we are undertaking to make the future better?
For the last few weeks, I had many times came across a video on different social networking sites in which a person is comparing India with Switzerland says India produces as many engineers as the total population of Switzerland. I have one thing to ask to all of you who are reading this that as a child whenever you have wanted to ask something from your teacher have your desire been satisfied. How many times in you have been asked to innovate or research rather than just mugging the answers? If you have been motivated to innovate during your student days, remember you had one of the best teachers. In our country from childhood, we have been told that government services are the best job you can have. Even in some meme, I have come across I had seen that the mother of Sundar Pichai would have been happier if he would have cracked civil services.
Currently, the country is undergoing it’s one of the worst recession fallout, and this is what is making the students stressed what will happen to their future, will they get a job? will they be able to crack exams? Can they again go back to school soon? The Government at the centre is doing many things but is not focused on the basic problem that is stressed children, their mental health and happiness. In none of the speeches our PM have addressed the students or their problems, our HRD minister is playing wait and watch the game, the future of our children is not a soccer ball that you are waiting for the corner to score. Address them directly assure them that you are equally worried about them as you are about your vote bank.
If India needs innovation at school level then the mental health and happiness of a student should be the first priority of the Government, else we will be always called a developing country and forget about research and development.
I think my voice will reach out to the fraternity which will be taking steps in the direction for the welfare of the students and their future.
