Aristotle said “He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander”. The statement means to highlight the importance of being obedient in order to become a good leader.

The ability of an individual or a group of individuals to influence and guide followers or other members of an organisation is referred to as leadership.

One of the advantages of obedience is that it increases your chances of success. The kind that comes with a sense of calm. The kind that brings glory to God and improves human life. You don't need to stain your hands with evil to succeed when you follow God's instructions for success and prosperity.

Examples-

  • Captain Vikram Batra's valiant command led the Indian Army to capture Point 4875, where the Tricolour was unfurled on the Tiger Point.
  • Chak de India - The role of a coach, a crucial leader for a sports team.

The negative effects of obedience is that throughout the years obedience has had an enormous effect on human history. It has caused nations to rise and fall, prosper and suffer; yet it has also brought destruction among innocent people.

Example-

  • The famous excuse given by Nazis after WWII that they were "only following orders".

Obedience is an essential part of life. Blind obedience to unquestioned authority, on the other hand, is bad. Some autocrats and despots do not always provide justice to the people. They oppress them like nothing else and force them to blindly follow their rules. In such cases, people should fight for the rule of law and justice. However, normal obedience to elders and superiors is essential for success in life.
