It was not easy to grow as a negro boy or a black boy in the early period of 1900’s.

The story is about the black boy named Richard Wright and his early childhood in societal oppression.

He was working under a boss, who is Baptist, Richard wants to study to enlighten his intelligence but his boss has not allowed him to study.

Another incident he came across is that a black child is being beaten by a white father, that physically abusing a child is okay, a parent can do this. It is absolutely wrong.

These are societal oppression he came across in his early years.
