Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a famous teacher and writer. In the year 1888, on 5th September he was born in a poor Brahmin family in Tirutani, India. His father's name was Sarvapalli Veeraswami who worked as a zamindari on low honorarium. His mother's name was Saitama. Due to poor financial condition, he completed his education on the basis of scholarship. He successfully completed his school education Tirumutani and Lutheran Missionary School, Tirupati. Dr. Radhakrishnan has done his B.A. And M.A. Degree obtained in philosophy. At the age of 16, he married Sivakamu. In 1909, he became assistant lecturer in Madras Presidency College. They had good knowledge of Upanishad, Brahmsutra, Bhagvat-Geeta, Shankar, Madhav, Ramanujan and the well-known and Jain philosophy.
In his later life, Dr. Sahab read the philosophical interpretation of Plato, Kant, Bradley, Platinus, Bergson, Marcism and existentialism. While leaving Cambridge for study to get Radhakrishnan's blessing, he received a gift from a talented mathematician named Srinivasan Ramanujan in 1914. In 1918 Dr. Radhakrishnan became professor of philosophy at Mysore University. He was also a famous writer and wrote many articles for a well-received journal, The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore, The Quest, The Rhine of Religion in Contemporary Philosophy, The International Journal of Ethics, Journal of Philosophy etc. His famous writings attracted attention to Ashutosh Mukherjee's vision (Vice Chancellor of the University of Calcutta) and in 1921 he was nominated for the George V Professor of Philosophy in University of Calcutta. When he was requested by Professor J.H. Theurhead for the Library of Philosophy, he wrote another book, Indian Philosophy, which was published in 1923. Every year his birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day in order to show respect for the great work of Dr. Radhakrishnan's tribute. This great man died on April 17, 1975.
