India: A Land Of Opportunities And Challenges

India after 70 years of Independence indeed is a land of opportunities and challenges. India is one of the most richly endowed countries in the world. There is enough of everything in it. Mountains, hills, valleys, lakes, deserts, plateaus, seas, plains and whatnot, India has everything.  Life sustaining resources such as air, water, sunlight, forests, animals, land, seas, flora, fauna, minerals, metals, human population, etc. exist in staggering abundance. Rivers such as Ganges, Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Brahmputra, Kaveri, etc. flow perennially through its various planes making them the most fertile and arable planes in the world. Industrious farmers grow all types of crops, vegetables, fruits, etc on these plains and keep the food supplies abundantly supplied throughout the year. So, there is no scarcity of any sort in Indian subcontinent. According to statistics in Wikipedia the total cultivable area in India is 1,945,355 km² (56.78% of its total land area). India has a total water surface area of 360,400 km². India has the 4th largest coal reserves in the world; iron and manganese ores are 7th largest reserve in the world as in 2013; mica and bauxite are 5th largest reserve in the world as in 2013.

India is a democratic country that is developing fast. Its economy is growing stronger and stronger every day. Since it is the second largest country, the demand for almost everything is always high. Hence India is an ideal place for investment. Many MNCs have already invested heavily in India which has created a ripple effect of job creation and wholesome economic activates. More people have more purchasing power now.

When it comes to economic prosperity, India is the fastest progressing country in the world. According to Wikipedia the economy of India is the sixth-largest economy in the world measured by nominal GDP. The country is categorized as a newly industrialized country, one of the G-20 major economies. India is an important member of BRICS and a developing economy with an average growth rate of approximately 7% over the last two decades. India's economy became the world's fastest growing major economy in the last quarter of 2014, surpassing the People's Republic of China.

The Indian Government is also investing hugely in developing basic infrastructure. This also is wonderful opportunity for growth, development, and betterment. The Government is equally making better policies to provide financial betterment and security for its citizens. So the future is quite bright and promising.  Demonetization, GST, Pradhan Mantry Jan Dhan Yojna, etc. are some of the reforms introduced by the Government.

India is stunning the world with its self-reliance in scientific and technological advancement. ISRO, India’s premier space research organization has amazed the world with its expertise and feats. Recently it successfully launched 104 satellites into the space and made a world record. Similarly, Indian DRDO, BHEL, ADA and other defense organizations have successfully created advanced surface-to-surface, surface-to-air missiles along with other cutting-edge weapons of self-defense.

Unquestionably, there are many challenges in this wonderful country. Challenges such as population, environmental degradation, poverty of rural people, corruption, backwardness, etc; but these challenges are opportunities too. We can contribute to this change for the betterment by giving our best. Each one of us must do our job and responsibilities perfectly. If each one of us becomes efficient in our sphere of actions, India will automatically become best. All the challenges can easily be overcome provided the entire manpower and resources are utilized and used optimally under the right guidance of dedicated leaders. India can do wonders. India will do wonders surely. And that will happen only when the Indians set their hearts to make India the land of opportunities, growth, and prosperity with their words, deeds, and acts.

Explanation:

India achieved independence from British rule seven decades back and with each passing decade the people of this country have struggled to protect the freedom our leaders fought for and build a nation they envisioned. Any man who stands for progress, has to criticise, disbelieve and challenge every item of the old faith. And hence it’s very important to make the future builders of our nation to talk about their vision about their contribution to the nation building. Vydehi School of Excellence conducted an Essay Writing Competition on the topic “INDIA @70 AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION” on 20th January, 2018 where the students of Grades 5 to 11 participated and made the event be a huge success. VSE feels proud of its endeavours for the future building.

India is not 70, but it is 28yrs old. According to me , Indian economic birth took place post liberalisation in 1990.

As a country our progress has been phenomenon. We started off as socialist based government driven economy to capitalism based private sectors and built sizable educated middle income population which in a way bigger than few developed countries. So finding needs of this population and serving them are opportunities.

You take any of the start ups today , they are mainly focusing on this middle income population and are constantly trying to solve their problems in some way. Flipkart, ola, big basket, urban clap, byju or practo list goes on.

Education and healthcare are two segments that still needs lot of improvement, hence open up opportunities.

The biggest revolution just happened in last couple of years thanks to Mr Mukesh Ambani - JIO. India leaped forward From no where in internet to second most user in world. Let's hope we use this revolution to solve larger problems of humanity.
