RESTRICTIONS
You aren't allowed to go there.
You cannot wear this.
You are too young to go out alone.
You are not allowed to play games.
You are not allowed to do this. You are not allowed to do that.
Etc. Etc.
We all have faced restrictions in our life in some point of time. Many of us might have got free from those restrictions now but many of us might be still facing them.
We are restricted to do a lot of things. But the question is that, are restrictions good?
Every situation can be seen from different angles. You might interpret things in a different way and I might interpret those same things in a different way.
Whether restrictions are good or not, it actually depends on when and why are you restricted.
You are a kid and so restricting you to ride a motorbike or a car is completely valid. But you are a kid, and if you are restricted completely from playing games then it's wrong as you are restricted from enjoying your childhood.
Sometimes actions also result to restrictions. So make sure whatever you are doing, you are doing it rightly.
Now restrictions can also have its own types.
- Restrictions based on personal motives.
- Restrictions based on professional motives.
Restrictions which are based on personal motives can be out of security. If the opposite person is concerned for you and if he/she has a valid point to restrict you on something than it is good. But if that restriction is out of insecurity or excessive possessiveness which in result is creating more problems is not correct.
I will give a very simple example to justify this.
If you are in a relationship and you are being restricted by your partner to stop chatting with anyone else. If your partner tries to control you in every aspect then it is wrong. But if your partner is restricting you to be close to a certain person then he/she might be correct regarding it. Just hear the reason out. Controlling and being concerned are two different things. One should know the difference between both.
Second best example for it can be :- If parents restrict their children completely from going out then that is wrong. Yes, the world isn't safe but till when you will keep your child inside that home? Your child needs to have a practical exposure of life. If you will keep your child limited to just school and home then he/she will not even know how to buy a vegetable. He/she might have personality problems.
Parents should restrict their children but only in the correct things. Things, which are illegal, things which are inappropriate, things which are negative. Teach your children about it and restrict them to do wrong things. But don't restrict them to a level where they lose their freedom.
Now moving on to the restrictions on professional motives:-
I have a very simple example for it.
According to today's scenario where we all are concerned and worried due to the pandemic, Government has imposed lockdown in the whole country and every citizen is restricted to come out of their homes. The government wants the safety and hence this restriction is valid as if not followed then it will lead to the failure of lives of many people.
An example which proves that professional restrictions can be bad as well can be a student being restricted to pursue his/her dreams.
Yes, today's world is full of competition but never restrict your children from pursuing it. He/she might get enrolled in a course out of peer pressure or parents pressure. But that will just lower the guarantee of his/her career.
Let your children choose their goals. Yes, education is important so pursue as well but only on the basis of his/her interests. Parents, just support your children in their goals. Your support is the best moral boost they can have in their life.
So, restrictions can be good and can be bad as well. Learn to categorise between what is right and what is not.
Restrictions to a certain level is right but if exceeded then it might result in losses as well.
