Petrovich Milkin was a good friend of Nastya. They spent time together and gave a misconception that they were lovers. Nastya’s father was not an exception for this. People began to ask Milkin about their marriage and the young man saw the danger saw the danger he was in. Before he could run away from the country, Nastya’s father called Milkin for a meeting to discus the marriage.
Milkin tried to evade the impending disaster of marriage by claiming he was a culprit, he was a drunkard, he had run away with stolen cash and that he was mad but each accusation that he piled upon him, Nastya’s father found the essential goodness in the young man. Finally Milkin approached his friend and doctor to certify him insane.
On hearing Milkin sought a medical certificate to dismiss a marriage, the friendly doctor refused to certify his friend insane because he believed, an insane person cannot escape from marriage!
