Answer:

Vowels and diphthongs of English language

Pronunciation is quite a challenging and arduous facet of the English language, especially for those who learn it as second language. In order to master pronunciation, knowledge and application of English phonetics is a must.

Consonants, vowels, and diphthongs are the constituents of English phonetic system. Consonant is a speech sound made by completely or partly stopping the flow of air being breathed out through the mouth.

Vowel is a speech sound produced by air being produced through mouth without any obstruction by tongue, teeth, or lips.

A diphthong is a speech sound produced by combining two vowel sounds.

Essay on the vowels and diphthongs of English:

Pronunciation is one of the most challenging and arduous thing to do in English language. Correct pronunciations of words is quite a hard task to master especially when you are not a native speaker and English is your second or third language. For learning the true complications of pronunciation one must be aware of the Phonetics of the language, which is the branch dealing with the study of different pronunciations.

The three main components of the Phonetics are consonants, vowels and diphthongs. We know that consonants are produced by completely or partially stopping the flow of air breathed out of the mouth. Vowels are being produced when there is no obstruction of the air flow from the mouth. And diphthongs are made up of the 'combination of two vowel sounds'. For example, in the word Ice, the I is a vowel sound but in the word Air, the pronunciation of this word is done by the complete mixing of two vowel sounds, that is a and I, therefore it is a dipthong.
