Yoga is an art that originated 5000 years ago in India. It helps in to relaxing our mind, boosting thinking skills, improves muscles and improves flexibility. Yoga teaches us discipline, and peace. Thus, yoga must be practiced regularly. Yoga is not only associated with asanas, but it is a symbol of spiritual discipline.
Yoga day is celebrated on 21st June every year. Yoga day was declared on 21st June by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. This was declared after the speech given by our Honorable prime minister, Narendra Modi to the United assembly on September 27, 2014.

Yoga day is celebrated by setting new yoga schools and training centers. In schools and collages, yoga is displayed to the students, and spread the awareness of their health benefits.
The idea of international yoga day is not only in India, but is organized and supported by many other countries such as USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy ,Japan and many more. This day is practiced in more than 170 countries. Yoga day has it's presence globally.

In September 2014, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was proposed to celebrate International Yoga Day. It was supported by various yoga practitioners and spiritual leaders around the world. The United Nations declared International Yoga Day on June 21 in December 2014.
First International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm around the world, but in Delhi, Rajpath is a different place where it can be practiced. Thousands of people gathered to celebrate this day.
