Traveling alone can be scary at first. When people think of travel, their minds are often filled with images of full moon parties in the Asian tropics, backpacking through the Medieval streets of Europe or going on an adventure trek through African and South American jungles. More often than not there are a lot of people there; friends, family, fellow travelers, and adventurers to share the experience with it. This “comradery of the road” often provides a bit of shelter from the culture shock and the anxiety of being removed from comfortable environments.
When you strip a person of their comforts, things can get a little scary. There are times when a traveler must go at it alone, and in doing so, they will walk into a world unraveled from the familiar. Take driving on the opposite side of the road for example. Terrifying! But there is beauty in this. Around every corner lies excitement, exploration, and real culture, but only if the traveler can overcome the hurdles that come with traveling alone.
