Wordsworth has wisely said, 'Child is the father of man.' There are so many skills we can learn from a child. So naturally when I am 64, I may learn many things from them. Children are naturally so good and living life. Since their minds are not tainted with the corrupt, unwholesome, materialistic influences of the world, they enjoy being alive to the maximum. They are neither stressful, nor tense concerning life and its challenges. They just take them as they come. The first skill that I will learn from my grandchildren will be this carefree attitude. Another divine skill that I may learn from them is their innocence! I'd much rather see the world through the eyes of a child. They have an innocence about them that is genuine and very real. It seems as you grow into adulthood you lose that innocence and once you do it is gone forever. Did you ever see a child's eyes light up at their birthday or Diwali? They are full of excitement and quiet anticipation as their whole world revolves around that single moment in time leading up receiving gifts. It is what is so wonderful about being a child and it brings a smile to every parent's face as they reflect on that very special time when they too were a child. Their frankness and straightforwardness is the another quality I would love to learn from them. They never think of harming anyone. They just say what they feel. The thinking process in them so clear, without any conflict. I would love to learn this innocence and spontaneity of expression from them. Children have no preconceived notions as they are not yet tainted by experience and they say things both honestly and sincerely as they were taught. They don't ever sugar coat what they say because they have no reason to and they have not adapted that practice yet into their young lives. They are spontaneous and are very perceptive. They are very focused in what they want and there is no question about it. Another very charming skill that can be learnt from them is their natural feelings of dependence on elders, especially their father, mother, or grandparents. On the contrary, as we grow, we stop being dependent on others; we become egoists. The truth is in this beautifully complex life, we are always dependent on others. However, we forget this truth and fact in our conceit and pride. Every moment we are dependent on life's resources; we cannot have our existence without oxygen, water, food, and all the help we receive from our parents, teachers, mentors, etc
