The IPL (Indian Premier League) , is a professional cricket league based on a twenty-twenty format. It was launched by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. Lalit Modi was the first chairman of the IPL as well as the vice president for BCCI. There are currently 8 teams playing in the IPL right now.

Lalit Modi, this took place without the approval of the IPL governing council and the transfer fees was not paid as well. (Hannon,2010).Charges of financial corruption were also held against Lalit Modi. “Travel House”, a travel agency had managed to raise a bill of 219,058 US$, out of which 87,623$ were used by Mr. Modi for Mercedes and BMW cars. (C.Lakshman, 2013). Lalit Modi was also accused of leaking confidential information to the media about the board. Lalit Modi was suspended on 25th April 2010, and replaced by Rajeev Shukla, who is currently the chairman of the IPL.

There was another scandal which took place in 2013, which resulted three players being arrested by the Delhi Police for spot fixing and match betting. They were namely Sreesanth,ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. The Board of Control suspended the players.
