Hi there !!

Oxidation :-

      Addition of oxygen
              OR
     Removal of Hydrogen

Reduction:-
     Addition of  Hydrogen
              OR
     Removal of Oxygen

During oxidation , a substance gains oxygen or loses hydrogen.
During reduction ,  a substance gains hydrogen or loses oxygen

Oxidising agent undergoes reduction [ addition of hydrogen OR, removal of oxygen ]

Reducing agent undergoes oxidation [ addition of oxygen OR, removal of hydrogen
 ]

An oxidising agent oxidises other substances.
A reducing agent reduces other substances.

Lets take the example of Copper oxide (CuO)
When we pass hydrogen gas through it , we get water and copper [ displacement reaction ]

CuO + H₂  --------> Cu  + H₂O

Here ,
CuO is getting reduced to Cu
H₂ is getting oxidised to H₂O

Here ,
 Oxidising agent is CuO
 Reducing agent is H₂

SO , we can conclude that :-
1) The substance  getting  oxidised is the same as reducing agent and the substance  getting reduced is same as  the oxidising agent.

Note :-
For  writing agents [ reducing and oxidising ]and substances getting oxidised and reduced we should make use of only "reactants" and not products .

Hope this Helps You !!
