We were traveling to our native place by train. All of us were having a wonderful time. Suddenly, we heard a hissing sound coming from somewhere inside the train. We panicked and looked around us. But, we could not find anything. The sound also stopped coming and we thought that we had imagined the whole thing. We continued having fun and enjoying ourselves. All of a sudden, the sound came again a bit more loudly. This time, we were really scared and thought that there was a snake somewhere. Some of us even opened our bags to see if there was one inside. It was then my cousin happened to look up by chance. He saw that a plastic bag had got caught on the fan blades. It was the breeze that came when the fan was on that caused the bag to make the sound. All of us had a hearty laugh.

I was on my way to Chennai. It was a long journey on Rajdhani express. I sat near the window enjoying the ever changing vistas outside. As the train was passing through forests of Madhya Prasdesh, suddenly the train slowed down abruptly; then it was put on a halt.

The passengers curious to know the cause of the halt, came outside. Fortunately my coach was quite close to the engine. As I also stepped down the train my eyes saw the rarest view. A huge herd of wild elephants was crossing the tracks majestically.

Later on I came to know an automatic signal had been put up at the spot to warn the train drivers of the elephant movement. Many elephants had died owing to the lack of proper safety measures. However, recently, the Government had installed a satellite monitored signal system. When the elephants passed the track, the signal got red.

I enjoyed seeing elephants from close quarters. I also was impressed with the automatic signal system. After the herd had crossed the track, the train resumed its journey.
