An experiment to prove the change in state of an object due to inertia :-

Newton's first law of motion states that- An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

We will take an example of a Rocket Liftoff.

Before Release-The object is in state of rest , whereas the  the airspeed is 0

As soon as the engine fired the thrust increases from 0 and weight decreases as soon as the fuel burns.

When thrust is  more than the weight  net force (thrust-weight) is positive upward .

When the Rocket accelerates  upwards velocity is increased more than 0 itself.
