Experiment
Aim - rate of conduction of heat is different for different materials.
MATERIALS AND APPARATUS:
Bunsen burner
Vaseline
copper, iron, brass and aluminium rod
stopwatch
drawing pins
tripod
cardboard or paper
matches
METHOD:
Stick the flat end of a drawing pin to the end of each of the metal rods using the Vaseline. Try to use the same amount of Vaseline for each drawing pin.
Place the cardboard on the tripod.
Balance the metal rods on the cardboard so that one end of each is over the Bunsen burner.
Light the Bunsen burner.
Using a stopwatch, measure how long it takes for each of the pins to drop off.
Record your results in the table.
Draw a bar graph to illustrate your results.
