The Earth has existed since 4.5 billion years. That is 1/3 the age of the universe. Around that time our sun, the star, was very young and all that surrounded it was gas, dust, and rocks. Gradually as time passed, these clouds of dust, due to gravity and other factors started forming big rocky balls near the sun. The clouds of gas formed the 4 gas giants.
