To find the area of a rectangle, multiply the length by the width. The formula is: A = L * W where A is the area, L is the length, W is the width, and * means multiply. where A is the area, s is the length of a side, and · means multiply.

Given: figure.

To find: the area of the expression of the given figure.

Solution:

Label the given figure and join the points G and C.

Draw the required figrue.

Observe that from the figure that, the shape consists of a square ABCG and rectangle FCDE.

Find the area of the given shape.

area of the given shape\[ = ar\left( {ABCG} \right) + ar\left( {FCDE} \right)\]

                                       \[\begin{array}{l} = 7 \times x + 14x\\ = 21x\end{array}\]

Therefore, the expression for the area if the given figure is 21x.
