ant story
Once upon a time, there lived an ant with its fellows in the forest. The ant was not at all happy being an ant. She did not enjoy her life at all. All she wanted was to be like the birds to fly high and life a free life. The ant wanted to make her dream come true.
One day, there were heavy storms and thunders. The wind was blowing so hard that the ants were finding it difficult to hold onto the land. Finally, the ant decided to grab a leaf that was flying in the air. The ant went higher and higher in the air holding onto the leaf as there was a heavy wind.

Short Story
The Magical Cricket Bat
Laurence Fang, Grade 4 Short Story 2010
One night when a normal school boy called Shane was walking down the street, thinking about the 50overs cricket match he would be playing tomorrow at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. But then he noticed a wooden cricket bat lying on the ground. He picked it up and noticed it was old and rusty but very easy to swing.
So the next day he got the wooden bat he had found yesterday to use in the final cricket match of the season. His other bright and shiny bat always had made his team lose. So that’s why he decided to use this old and rusty one, not his bright and shiny one.
When he got to the cricket stadium he was ready for the match. As the umpire blew the whistle. He swung the bat. He thought the ball would hit the stumps like how it always happened when he used the old bat. But this time he whacked it for a 6. How amazing was that Shane thought. He kept smashing 4’s & 6’s until the umpire said they have already finished their balls. They had broke their record of an astonishing 4/802.
When it was time for the opponent team to bat Shane’s team got all their players out quickly. They weren’t very good with all out for 340 runs. The high scores for Shane’s team was Shane which got 243 runs for only 55 balls and the opponents high score was their captain called Mitch which got 155 runs for 137 balls and there second highest score was 57 for 60 balls.
After the game Shane’s teammates cheered to him for making them win the final match of the season. Shane’s coach also congratulated him. Shane was also man of the match ever since he found this magic one.
