Dear Sushant:
I hope this letter finds you in fine fettle. I am writing this letter to share with you the surge of pride and patriotism I have been feeling since I read a few of Bhagat Singh’s letter. I just read his letter that he wrote to Shaheed Sukhdev on April 15, 1929 in Sita Ram Bazar House, Delhi. The letter was taken to Lahore by Shri Shiv Verma and handed over to Sukhdev it was recovered from him at the time of his arrest on April 13 and was produced as one of the exhbits in Lahore Conspiracy Case.
Tears welled up in my eyes when I read the very beginning of the letter: ‘By the time you receive this letter I will be gone, going to a far off destination. Let me assure that I am prepared for the voyage in spite of all the sweet memory and in spite of all the charms of my life here.” This great son of India was executed at the tender age of 23. He laid his life for the freedom of his beloved mother. I was just stunned to see his single-minded devotion to the cause of the freedom movement.
It pains my heart to see the contemporary leaders involved in trivialities such as corruption, scandals, and scams. They are least bothered about the country. I wish all our leaders were as dedicated and patriots as Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev were. Our country would be a paradise of prosperity and advancement. I appeal to you read his letters too. It will inspire you. give regards to uncle and aunt.
Yours sincerely,
