Ashima's brother Parikshit got a new mobile phone-she did not get any-her parents allowed Parikshit to go out and party with his friends but Ashima did not have that privelage.​

Ashima felt sad at the partiality shown by her parents towards her brother Prikshit. But, she did not say anything. Instead, she spent her time pursuing her favorite hobbies – reading and writing her diary. She also took extra effort to prepare well for her exams. On the other hand, Prikshit spent his time in the company of his friends and using the mobile for long hours. He hardly focused on his studies.

When the exam results came, Ashima was declared the class topper whereas Prikshit had failed in a few subjects. His friends teased him for not faring well in his exams like his sister. He felt very upset and decided to not misuse the freedom given to him anymore
