The conversation is a fictional interview in between a teacher and a scientist.
Teacher - Hi. We are glad to have you here. Dr Ira has a PhD in the field of Biotechnology and has done immense work on cancer research. Hello Madam! How does it feel to be a scientist?
Scientist - It feels great when we do something we like with a lot of passion.
Teacher - So, what was the thing or situation that got you interested in this field of work?
Scientist - Well, I have been seeing the world and there are as fewer treatment possibilities for the deadly disease called Cancer. So, I wanted to work in a way where it can be detected at a stage where there are many successful possibilities of treatment.
Teacher - That's nice. So, what made you choose this specific topic and how was your outcome with the hypothesis?
Scientist - I had chosen this topic as it has been less researched in the past and there is not many valuable data that could help with the treatment. The absence of enough history had made it difficult.
Teacher - It must have been a lot of work then?
Scientist - Yes, it was a lot of hard work. I had worked day and night at the lab for 7 years and had to face a lot of constraints.
Teacher - So, how well will your research be useful to the ordinary citizens?
Scientist - Well, I have just given a possibility of detecting a mutant gene. It is still a long way to go till it reaches the ordinary people.
Teacher - What are the next steps of your work?
Scientist - We will have to work on a larger population group from a different geographical area and see if the results of both the researches match. Then we will have to check the immunology and other aspects in detail.
Teacher - That sounds great. All the best for your future works. Can you please tell a word of encouragement for our students?
Scientist - You students are the building blocks of our country's future and of our future generations. There are so many possibilities and fields out there to work on. Research well in your field of interest and choose your work well. Whatever you do, do it passionately and with all your interest and attention. Do not mind the societal pressures and do what you feel is right for you. All the best to everyone.
