Sir,

Sub Nuisance of beggars.

I shall be thankful if you publish this letter in the columns of your esteemed newspaper. I would like to draw the attention of local authorities towards the increasing nuisance of beggars in our city.

Nowadays, the number of beggars has abruptly increased. Everywhere in the city-markets, parks outside a restaurant or even in streets you will find such obstinate beggars. The pity is that most of that are physically fit but begging is their profession. Some of them might be involved in other offences also. Some of the beggars suffer from highly infectious diseases such as leprosy, TB etc. it is necessary that that such cases be taken care of and be treated in General Hospital, and other able-bodied beggars be taken to task. Either they should do the given jobs or they must be punished by the Government, and they should not be allowed to make begging their profession.

I am sure, the authorities will positively take care of this increasing nuisance of beggars, at the earliest.

Yours truly

The Editor, the Times of India, New Delhi-02.

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the kind attention of authorities concerned towards the problem of beggary. It is, in fact, a long standing problem of Delhi which has gained alarming proportions now. It does not seem to be the mere necessity of those who are incapacitated disabled and are not in a condition to work. It has become a regular profession as hale and hearty people can be seen egging. Children are also pushed into the trade and are seen everywhere now.

Many of them are professional pick-pockets and thieves. Frequent incidents of chain-snatching and purse-lifting are done by these beggars. The beggars are reported to have been involved in different crimes. They are commonly seen in buses, at red lights, around religious and tourist places. They take advantage of the rush. Many anti-social elements have taken to the robes of beggars to escape vigilance and serve their ends.

This situation calls for immediate action to make Delhi free from beggars. The authorities concerned should seriously consider this issue and take steps to put a complete ban on begging.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely
