It was my 13th bday and my parents wanted me to spend this birthday in a nearby old age home , playing and talking with the elderly. This wasn't my idea of a perfect birthday , but I had an optimistic outlook .
When we reached the old age home , I saw many elderly people, some the age of my grandparents . I was very upset that people could just throw their parents out the moment they start to be a burden for them .
But after talking to some of them , I realised that these people were very wise and genuinely happy with their lives. This made a little calm. But there was an old lady that always sat in the near the window , looking out , rarely ever talking to anyone
I went to her , and offered her some cake , but instead of accepting , she suddenly held my hand. I gasped and tried to get away.
But then she spoke , " Anu , you came . At last. I missed you ,my child " . She went on to talk about her day and I listened on , not having the heart to tell her that I was not Any.
A few days later , I passed by the home and visited them . I found that the old women had passed away and her daughter , Anu , lay by her , weeping bitterly.
The caretaker told me , later , that the old lady had asked her to come a few days ago. But Anu was busy with her job and family , and ignored her.
I saw the sad scene unfolding before my eyes and could see the regret in her eyes.
Thus , the proverb better today than tommorow , is true , as you will never know when things might change and your life would never be same again . So , it is better to do everything at the present , and leave nothing for tommorows
