The man walked down the road, the collar of his thick fur coat was turned up, maybe as a shield from the harsh wind on this particularly cold winter evening.
He walked fast, taking long, brisk strides, looking over his shoulder every now and then. This man's features didn't stand out. They were the kind that would have blended in easily with a crowd, had it not been for the long, deep scar, running across his right cheek. Whatever weapon had made that scar, had barely missed his eye by a whisker. The man looked dangerous.
The other pedestrians made sure to steer clear of this man. Suddenly, the man seemed to notice something and slipped into the large house on his right. The shopkeeper across the street had been observing this man's behaviour for quite sometime. Upon hearing screams emerge from the building, his suspicions were confirmed. This man was surely someone to be wary of. The shopkeeper immediately dialled the police.
Soon afterwards, a whole sqaud of policemen rained down on the building, in search of a man with a scar acrosshis right cheek. The leader of the squad rang the bell, a hand placed his holster. The door was answered by a well built man, carrying a baby girl in his arms. Beside him, stood a beautiful woman, with a smile on her face and tears in her eyes. The man at the door has a scar, running across his right cheek.
"Good evening, Officer, I'm Major Mackelroy. How may I help you?", he said.
The policemen stood there, baffled. They were standing in front of this legendary man who was known to have singlehandedly saved over 300 people.
The leader quickly regained his composure and said, "Sorry to disturb you, Major, we mistook you for someone else. Have a great evening."
The shopkeeper who had smartly walked up to the house, expecting to have aided in catching a dangerous criminal, realised what a foolish mistake he had made.
The screams from the house had been shrieks of joy, not fear and the way the man had been looking around was the natural alertness of a soldier.
He walked up to the door as the policemen walked away and thanked the Major for his service to the country and then walked back to his shop, with his head held low, vowing to never judge someone by how they appeared.
