Explanation:

Ravi, an enthusiastic student, from a Delhi school was a good athlete. His ambition was to make it big in the field of athletics.  The annual District Athletic Meet was scheduled in November. He was determined to give his best shot this time and win the gold. There were almost four months to go for the Annual Meet. Ravi thought that as there was time, he could take it a little easy. He started his practice when there was one month left for the Meet.

One month before the Meet, he worked diligently each morning. He got up early and practiced running for an hour each day. Each day, he increased his speed a little and tried to better his previous running time. He saw a lot of videos on how to increase stamina and how to be a better runner. He also got tips from his teachers. The D Day arrived and Ravi was all geared up to give his best.

There were about thirty participants from various schools across the State. Ravi did well in the first round and got qualified for the finals. He was very happy and was hoping to win the finals. At the sound of the whistle, he ran very well, but somewhere along the way, he could sense that he was losing out. Still undeterred, he put his heart and soul into the race. But alas, he lost by 58 seconds to the victor.

Ravi then realized that each day’s hard work takes you closer to your target. Next time, he decided he should work harder than earlier. He then did a lot of hard work and it paid off.

The next year, Ravi emerged as the Champion with a huge margin. He was so happy; as were his parents. Ravi realized that there are no short cuts to success. Success comes to one who is ready to work hard and has perseverance.
